Atheists that acknowledge the importance of Christianity. Note, we have noted individuals that have labeled themselves as Christian atheist:
- Douglas Murray – “We are Christians anyway whether we like it or not.” Has labeled himself a Christian atheist. [1]
- Don Cupitt – “Nobody in the West can be wholly non-Christian. You may call yourself non-Christian, but the dreams you dream are still Christian dreams.”
- Enza Ferreri – “The West would not have existed without Christianity and will not survive without it.”
- Niall Ferguson – discussing how Christianity correlates with ethical framework for society, he noted, “I certainly do not know where else you are going to get one.”
- Richard Dawkins – “Christianity might be a bulwark against something worse.”
- John Steinrucken – [Christians] “will be foremost in the trenches defending us against those who would have us all bow down to a different and unaccommodating faith.”
- Oriana Fallaci – “..only Christianity can sustain civilization.” Fallaci did label herself a Christian atheist. [1]
- Lauren Ell – founder of Christian Atheist Society, Republican Atheists, Atheist Moms and Atheists We Are. Has described herself as a Christian atheist.
- Robert M. Price – published author and noted speaker. Has described himself as a Christian atheist. [1]
- Randall Chester Saunders – “When nothing is sacred, when nothing is revered, when there is no absolute truth, there is nothing to live for beyond the moment, nothing to inspire one to do or be more than they can get away with, nothing to believe in beyond what one sees and feels, ‘right now,’ and what they see is bewildering and what they feel is fear. When it is not the particular things that people believe that are addressed, but the fact they believe in something that is held in contempt, all that’s left is nihilism in philosophy, and hedonism in ethics—the dominate philosophy and ethics of today’s Western society, a society without purpose or values, ripe to be taken over by the first man who or ideology which claims to have values or purpose, such as Islam.”
